A fascination with light, shadow, angles, vibrant color and depth has lead Cindy Crowell to compose paintings that reflect specific seasons, temperatures and atmospheric conditions. Architectural features are of particular interest, but her range also includes landscapes, the human form, animals and plants.

The buttery texture of oils is irresistible to Cindy, as is using color in its purest form-- often straight from the tube. While mostly creating realistic pieces, the approach to each composition as a series of shapes in relation to one another is a continuing theme.  A passion for specific places is most notable in work featuring the island of St John, as well as other places which have deep meaning to the artist.

Cindy's husband Lewis, a woodworker/furniture maker, custom frames nearly all Cindy's paintings. Hand-pegging each piece is time-consuming, but creates a setting like no other.
